It is a family company dedicated to supplying the marketplace with giftware that sets trends, with strengths in design, colour, practicality and presentation. They make and assemble giftware items at their Burleigh Head factory, but most products are imported and repackaged in their large warehouse. Annabel Trends is committed to sustainability by recycling, reducing and reusing materials across its supply chain. Since joining the ecoBiz program in 2015, they have reduced their energy intensity by 28% and their water intensity by 66%.

“ecoBiz helps us to maintain focus on recycling and reducing waste – a core value for our business and our people. Ongoing initiatives are fostered and supported by ecoBiz and we find them a good source of intelligence and assistance in our efforts to be as environmentally friendly as possible in our business operations. ” Buzz Bennett, International logistics and QA

KEY INITIATIVES TO REDUCE ENERGY USE

  • They installed a 20kW solar panel system in June 2015.
  • They gradually upgraded to energy-efficient lighting.
  • They have automated security lights that are on a timer to only turn on at night time. The timer is adjusted at different time of the year according to the daylight hours to maximise savings.
  • They installed zoned air conditioning so that areas not in use are not cooled.
  • They heat water on demand by using a power pack for hot water.

KEY INITIATIVES TO REDUCE water use

  • They harvest rainwater from a 15,000L water tank for toilets, cleaning, and gardens.
  • They use water-efficient fittings and shower nozzles, and dual flush toilets.
